BUSINESS CFL Capital Financial Services Limited was incorporated on 23rd September, 1983 under the name Samudra Mahal Investments Limited. The name of the Company was changed to Samudra Leasing Limited with effect from 22nd May, 1986, to CEAT Financial Services Limited with effect from 29th January, 1990 and to the present name with effect from 9th July, 2001 The Coompany started its activity in leasing business but soon diversified into various Non Banking Financial Services after liberalization in early 1990s. It was one of the major Non Banking Financial Companies (NBFC) in India by mid 1990s. However the global economic meltdown of the late nineties affected the Company adversely and it could not meet the norms set by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for eligibility to operate as NBFC. RBI cancelled its registration as a NBFC in May 2004 with the stipulation that the Company would not do any fresh NBFC business and take steps to repay its outstanding Fixed Deposits. The Company is accordingly complying with the RBI directions and has repaid the outstanding deposits to all the depositors against their discharged receipts or indemnities and affidavits in lieu thereof. b.
